Slate River Ramblings began with no particular destination in mind.
Two years later, we’re a virtual community meandering through history.

This seems like an ideal time to announce that “At a Place Called Buckingham” — Volume Two will soon go to press and will be available Spring 2015.
Watch for more announcements as we get closer to publication.
Thanks to all of you for rambling through Buckingham County’s history with me.
It’s been a great two years!

Joanne, you have given us a special gift. Thank you for all you efforts. I look forward to every posting. Carole
Thank you, Carole. Especially for you willing to share! We’re all better for it!
I am sure I speak for most of the readers for this blog…Joanne has given us glimpses into the life of our kin and shared places and happenings that we would never have know about otherwise…so a big THANK YOU and Merry Christmas to Joanne! Cuz Alice over in Fluvana
Many thanks, Coz. Alice. Rambling through Buckingham (and Fluvanna) means meeting more cousins! Merry Christmas to you too!
You have it backwards, Joanne. We thank YOU for the books, the blog, and the Buckingham Beacon articles (that allow many in Buckingham without internet) to catch a glimpse of your research and Buckingham’s past. Have you thought of approaching the Internet Archive or the Library of Virginia to achive your blog? I’d love to name it as a “helpful resource” on the library catalog records that I am creating on Buckingham’s communities and locales as tabbed in 2 notebooks in the Reference Genealogy collection. TOGA is the model for that effort if you would like to take a look. Link to the record using Atriuum at http://www.cvrl.net.
Thanks, Joyce. It’s been my pleasure. As you know, readers can always explore the archive at Slate River Ramblings by using the search box on the right-hand side. There is a lot of content after two years! I will look into other possible archives, Internet and otherwise. Thanks for the new ideas! Joanne
Thank you, Bill. And many thanks for all of your comments and involvement over the last two years!
Hurray on the second volume and congratulations on two years!
Thank you, Eric. Watch for announcements about my Virginia “book tour” in mid-March!
Congratulations on two excellent years!
