Buckingham County, 1908: Part VI

Personals were not typically included in the collected correspondence of the Appomattox and Buckingham Times. However, the December 16, 1908 issue included this notice from Glenmore, Buckingham County:

Lost.

A Beagle female, black and white spots, answers to the name of Mistletow. A liberal reward will be paid for any information leading to her recovery. Address MISS MARY TURNER, Glenmore, Virginia.

If a Slate River Ramblings reader recognizes this Mary Turner, please let us know more about her family.

There was a Miss Mary Pearl Turner, who lived in Buckingham, and worked as a nurse for Dr. Moody in Scottsville, for many years??
Also, my son purchased 100+acres in Buckinham about ten years ago, in an area named Boxley Estates, near Slate River Road. There is the foundation of a large house still on the property, and we would love to know the history of the original home?

Phyllis, Thanks for your comment. I’m not familiar with Boxley Estates, however, a Slate River Ramblings reader might be and comment. Joanne
