When L. D. Jones ordered samples of calling cards, he received both a variety of images and scripts. The masculine or feminine nature of the images did not necessarily match the personality or gender of the name printed on the card. It seems highly unlikely that son Henry would have chosen a woman’s profile as his signature image. Or is this a classically clan boy?
According to the research of L. D. Phaup, Henry Legrand Jones was born on December 14, 1870, studied dentistry at Washington University, and received his degree on April, 25, 1896. He removed to Missouri permanently, where he married Elizabeth D. Moore.
In 1910, at the age of thirty-nine, Dr. Henry L. Jones was a dentist with his own office. He died in Missouri on September 2, 1912. Ill for some months, he was unable to return to Buckingham County to attend his father’s funeral in July of 1911.
