Thanks, Virginia. So do I. A few years ago, I discovered it in a Virginia cousin’s collection. The Harris family, who were living in Iowa, had sent it home to Minnie’s aunt who still lived in Buckingham County.
Happy Anniversary Joanne–Always enjoy learning new things about Buckingham County and look forward to future posts!
Thanks! More to come in 2021!

Congratulations on the anniversary! By the way, is your Sanger family related to Dr. William Sanger who was once the head of the Medical College of VA? My mother was his secretary “back in the day.”
Thanks, Bill. I’m probably not related to Dr. William Sanger. My line arrived in Massachusetts in 1636 and never lived in the South. They met my Harris family in Iowa, finally bringing North and South together.
Congratulations on eight years, Joanne! I’m so grateful for your blog–it’s been helpful and inspiring in my own research. xo
Wonderful photo of your sweet grandmother! What year was it taken?
And thanks to you for your ongoing support! Minnie Garland Harris was born in 1891. There is no date on the photo. Does she look about 10 or 12 years old? It was probably taken in Leon, Iowa where she grew up with a large collection of family from Buckingham County. One of my very first posts was about her.
